The Empty Nest
Every year, thousands of developers come together for one weekend to make games as part of the Global Game Jam. Each year has a theme. In 2015, that theme was "What do we do now?". Many people made games about surviving an apocalypse, surviving a zombie apocalypse and many other large, world-changing events. We decided to do something different. Something smaller yet still, for some people, world-changing. The Empty Nest is a visual novel about the parents left behind when their children grow up. For 18 years, every event in their life revolves around their children. Slowly the children grow and become more responsible but when they leave, it all happens at once - one day every aspect of your life is filled with them and the next, they're gone and the parent is left wondering, what do i do now?. As a Global Game Jam game, The Empty Nest feels like a game made in 48 hours. Even so, enough people said that they liked the story that we're making it available here. Works on Windows, Macintosh and Linux. |
