Contract Work – Clothing Modeler
We're currently working on PaperDoll Fashion Reaction, a fashion game. A cute fashion game. Perhaps a slightly mischevious fashion game. But it's still a fashion game and fashion games need clothes. Lots of clothes. Our current asset list calls for 197 outfits made out of 566 different clothing items. We could use a little help with that. If you're at this site, we're hoping you've looked at some of the game videos. Just in case, here's a recap of what we need. There are 40 clothing types. Most are character textures but some (hair, hats, facial hair, shoes, gloves, necklaces, belts, piercings, wings and tails) need their own models. All models are static - we don't need any animation or rigging. All models are fit to a single 2k poly character model. This is a cartoony game so we don't need high poly hyper-realistic art. What we do need, though, is fast art - we need a couple hundred simple models and we need people who can make 20+ models a week. Many models will be slight variations of existing models, so some will go pretty quick. We use 3dsMax 2010, Photoshop CS3 and Unity. We've written our own asset loading software as well as our own asset testing app. It's not hard to learn and we have instructional videos and documentation. We can get you Unity, Max you'll need to have. 2010 is nice but for clothing models, if you can export it as an FBX we're probably OK. Payment is based on results, not hours. Clothes are divided into small sets (10-20 items depending on complexity). You choose which sets you want to work on. If you don't want to do belts, that's fine. Payment is per set, $100 for textured models, $60 for untextured. Textures must be original, or at least not copyrighted - our current staff members would prefer to not see the inside of a prison cell. Sets must be completed within one week of accepting the work. In the interest of keeping the art consistent, we're currently only working with people who willing and able to complete at least five sets by Oct 31 2011. If you're interested and think you're good enough, you don't need to fill out a form, show us your transcript or send in a resume (although we wouldn't mind a link to a portfolio). You just need to convince us that you can quickly create objects in our art style. And that means skills test! Let us know you're interested, give us some sample art to convince us we should give a chance and we'll send you a list of clothes, the character model, a couple of existing clothing models and an application to test your creations. Pick two items off the list, make sweet art, test the results in the test application and, when you’re satisfied, send the models and textures to us. When you send us your test, include a note explaining how much time you’ll have available to work on this and how long you think it would take you to make 10 models. After that, we'll sit around and say "hmmm..." and then let you know what we think. If you're interested, send an email to info@shikigamigames.com. Unlike some companies, we respond to every (non-spam) email we get, even the really bad ones. And we're normally (though not always) pretty fast. So if you don't hear back from us, something has one wrong and you should bug us some more. We’d like to make a decision by September 1st so if you’re interested, apply now! |
